Ok, this is probably a really silly question!

I have found the perfect preschool for DS. It runs a 2 day program for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 yos & a 3 day program for the older kids. It has the option of longer hrs on some days so is funded for CCB etc

I can get my son a place now & this would mean he's gaurenteed a place for once te baby comes BUT I'm not ready for him to go two days. Two is their minimum enrollment but could I hit pay for 2 but only send him 1 to start? Is their some rule with CCR/CCB about this?!

Our preschool only takes kids once they turn 3 and we have people pay for a spot for their child from the start of the year just so they can hold the spot for when their child turns 3 in April or whenever.

I think you are allowed 42 days absent before you dont get the CCR. I don't know anything about CCB.

I don't know if there is a CCB rule about it but our centre only takes kids for a minimum od 2 days because the kids a have too much trouble settling in on only 1 day and it disrupts the other children if they have 1 child crying all day. This is reduced when they are there 2 days per week as they settle in much quicker.

You only have a certain number of "allowable" absences before your CCB / CCR can get cut off / decreased.

Can you send him two x 1/2 days? Why don't you want him going the 2 days?

I would talk to the Director and discuss with her, they may suggest doing 2 x 1/2 days to start with and then increasing to a full day + 1/2 day until he is settled & then increasing to the full 2 days.

It may take several weeks for him to be happy with more than 1/2 days or he may be fine.

Good luck.

Is there any reason he can't go the 2 days?

You may not be ready but he may be. I dont see the point of doing just one day. He would probably benefit getting used to that kind of environment cos when he starts school you wont be able to keep him home. Anyway by him going two days it will give u the chance to bond with the baby better and get more things done.

I'm in the same situation but will just send DD the 2 days. One day would be silly and is not allowed by most centres for various very valid reasons.

Use the extra time for yourself: pamper, shop, relax, prepare baby's new things, plan your next 12 months. You know you'll be very busy once baby 2 comes so use the extra day as a blessing, and know that your little one is having a great time with new friends, so it's a win win.

Op, also think about other families who may want the spot but can't have it because you are paying for it but aren't using it. That doesn't seem fair to me.
