Can someone explain to me how people manage to take such crappy photos for facebook?

People on my feed are always uploading the most grainy blurry dark mess, especially of groups who are out partying.

I don't own a smart phone, so maybe they really are just that bad with photos. Or is it some kind of photo app that is considered cool?

I'm just curious cause I see to much of it biggrin.gif

(I'm not knocking normal non-professional cheap camera photos, these ones seriously look like someone went to an extra special effort to make it look bad)

I thought you meant crappy photo's of yourself.......which always happens to me. I hate having photo's of me on facebook, especially as I am 15kg overweight and look like crap on a cracker....even worse when they tag me cry1.gif I get all anxiety ridden and un-tag myself asap.

Most pictures are from instagram where you can mess with filters and the result is usually crappy grainy photo's that they think are artsy and cool. If you just take a normal photo its fine. But the other culprit could be it does take about 30 seconds for facebook to load a photo properly so when you first look at it it's grainy but once it's loaded it's much clearer so could be either one.

That's why they invented "TimeLine Review" so that if people try to tag you in a photo or post (eg: "I can't stop laughing at how drunk WCA was last night") you have to actually approve it ("allow" it) before it becomes visible on your profile. Handy if you have friends who tag you constantly for stupid things or who post bad photos of you.

I blame instagram (which I do use, but don't post to FB ph34r.gif often).
My niece is really bad for it - lots of 'outside the club' pictures full of duckface!

What bugs me is people who take a few nice photos, get told they are awesome, then call themselves a professional photographer!

I'm so over all the pretentious artsy tryhards on Facebook (or on my Facebook feed via Instagram) posting pictures of cocktails and their ugly homemade dinners. Seriously... NO ONE CARES!

How to take a really great photo of yourself:

1. stand in a dark room with a bright light behind you (a smeary mirror can also look great)
2. take a photo of yourself while holding camera
3. upload, add grainy affect and blurry edge affect.

now that no-one can even tell its you, upload as your profile pic!

I was accused of being pretentious by someone who plagues my timeline with crappy photos like that. Photography is my hobby so when I put up a photo its usually one that I've taken the time to do nicely (I don't use Instagram). I've never pretended to be a professional nor will I ever likely be one, but I don't see why sharing my hobby should be seen as being a show off when that persons photos are so terrible? sad.gif
