Hi,
We are TTC number 2 and I am tossing up between the 2 hospitals. I had DD at Cabrini in early 2012 and wasn't really thrilled with my experience (midwife on phone kept telling me it was too early to come in, when we finally got there I was having contractions at the desk while I had to pay my private health excess, they then treated me like I was over-reacting when they took me into delivery...and baby was born 30 minutes after arrival!) I did think midwife care was a bit off as well, most nights the night nurse didn't come and introduce herself, 4 hours after birth I'm breastfeeding baby sitting in bed and nurse makes me get out of bed and sit in a chair to do it! Writing this down, I really don't think fondly of my time in Cabrini... I did love my OB from first time around, and she delivers at both. Do I stick with what I know, or give Waverley a go? Does anyone know if Waverley is strict with visitors? I was inundated at Cabrini and would have loved some help kicking people out. Has anyone delivered recently at Cabrini and had a different experience? Thanks. |

Hi,
I had both my boys at Cabrini. 1st one in 2010 and 2nd in Aug 2012. I tossed up whether to give Waverley a try 2nd time around as my OB delivers at both also. I wasnt unhappy with Cabrini the first time around I was just going to try Waverley as it was that little bit closer to home. We did a tour of Waverley and it seem really lovely and the midwives and staff were great and I had only heard really good thing about the hospital. The only thing I wasnt sure about and didn't really feel comfortable with is that they don't have 24hr theatre staff they are on call same goes for anesthetist. That was only a concern for me as my first was emergency CS. Cabrini is a bigger hospital and the staff are there 24hrs should you need them in a hurry. I have been generally happy with my care at Cabrini and should I have another baby I would return. Don't forget next time around you wont be a first time mum so its just different. Every hospital has its good and bad and every hospital has the one dreaded midwife floating around Hope 2nd time around will be a better experince for you where ever you decide to go. |
