We are hoping to add another baby to our family in the near future. Our children have a popular, traditional or uncommon name so we really have no set naming style. There are some names like William that I like which I know there is no point asking about as it is a timeless classic but was wondering what people though of our more out there names.
Douglas Raiden Quintian Pepin Griffin Cynan Otto Lyttelton Selian Honora Iseta Fara Willa Ascyla Ermentrude This post has been edited by Dienw: 10/02/2013, 05:49 AM |

I like Douglas and Willa only.
Ermentrude is by far my least favourite on both lists. |

Agree with pp.
Dougie is a great name, I don't know why it isn't used more. There are so many famous honourable men named Douglas, too. Willa Cather was a great American author and an interesting person. Go with those, OP! |

Douglas - nice name, but I don't like Doug. Raiden - awful, makes me think of fly spray Quintian - dislike Pepin - dislike Griffin - OK, a little bit trendy/popular. Cynan - not a fan Otto - good Lyttelton - not a fan, but I do like Lysander if that appeals? Selian - dislike, Celine or Selina would be better, or even better Serena or Sabrina Honora - great! Iseta - not a fan, but I do love a lot of unusual I names like Iona, Ione, Ianthe. Isolde and Iseult are nice too. Fara - makes me think of Faro. Willa - OK, but not as uncommon as I think you are going for. I like Wilhelmina. Ascyla - I've never heard anything like this before, where is it from? I would have to think about it. Ermentrude - not a fan, although I would spell it Ermintrude if I was going to use it. I think there are other names of similar style that are much nicer, like Esmeralda. Otto and Honora would be my overall favourites. |

I don't want to put my kids real names on here as it is too public, but along the lines of Ruby, Richard & Tekla

I think the kids real names would go with more standard names, most of the above a very different
I still think Ashla or Asha would be better with pronounciation I know a Tesla, Phaedra and Isis |

Ascyla, from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richomeres Interesting! I must admit I know absolutely nothing about the Franks. Now looking through a list of Frankish queens - I like the look of Clotilde, Deuteria, Aregund and Richilde. Still not sure about Ascyla. |
