What do people think of Adelaide as a girls name?

I am (obviously) aware it is the name of a city but it isn't technically a "place name" as Adelaide was named after a queen.

We'd probably use the nickname "Del" as well as the full name at times.

What middle name would work? We have a long three syllable surname.

My niece is an Adelaide Elizabeth. I like it, my mum doesn't as she used to live in Adelaide.

Her surname is 3 syllables too.

Don't go much on the nickname Del for it though, its such a pretty name, and Del is rather harsh. Other options are Addy, Adele, Ada, Laidy, Dela...

I love it and if I'd have any children with my second (and current) husband, a daughter would have been named Adelaide.

DH just poo pood Elizabeth as a MN (I liked it) as its too long.

With our surname it would give a name with 30 letters lol.

Our son does have 25...

It was actually DH's suggestion!

He is good at girls, he suggested Imogen for if DS was a DD.

He's suggesting Sebastian for a boy. I hate the nick names Seb & Bas though!
