Does anyone use the vibrant reds? Good? Not good? I need a change.

Not Schwartkopf, but I just used L'oreal shade 6.66 (Santiago? can't remember!). It's quite red on the pack, but was a fair bit darker than I expected, but I was med-light blonde before.
As I did it myself, and didn't expect it to be so dark, I wasn't very thorough and ended up re-doing it a week later to cover the bits I missed!
I hated it at first (looked purple!) but after re-doing it, I really like it. I've never gone this dark before - and it's really not that dark, I would say it's light brown with a definite red shade, but as I've always been blonde it seemed really dark at first. I would be happy to try a 'redder' shade, although I really like this one.

Thanks. I'm a mediumish brown (dyed) right now. I want a pretty vibrant change not just subtle. This lady wrote a blog review and this is the colour I would love to have http://www.fishtankfashion.com/2011/01/dye...tricks.html?m=1 (her pics about halfway down)

I just wonder about reviews if they're legit or not.

Also, if I did a strand test, obviously you have to wait the time for the colour to colour the strand and the already mixed colour would have to sit there and wait. It'd still be ok to use, right?

I've used them in the past, and like them.

I've only used over natural hair and got really vibrant results initially, but red is high maintenance and it does fade out and not look as bright.

I use the luminance brilliance one, the one with the half brown half red hair pic, I LOVE it!

It is a huge change for my hair, my hair is a darkish brown to start with.

My bigger issue is deciding between the red and the purple each time lol

I used a John Frieda colour that was quite a vibrant red. I liked it & got a few comments. People either loved or hated it. rolleyes.gif

It has faded a fair bit, I did it Christmas eve & you can't see it at all now. You can't even see outs even thought was a permanent colour. shrug.gif It doesn't bother me though as I want to wait a few weeks to get it done anyway. Then while we're away for our holiday I won't need to worry about it.

I would use it again & may try an even redder red this time.

What was your colour before it? My only hesitation is that the packet says it has a lighter in it too and I get scared of home lightening jobs. Did yours lighten your hair at the same time?
