My DS is nearly 3 and baby #2 is on the way. DS is a very boisterous little boy, a little chatterbox, is by no means hyperactive but to some probably could be classed in that boat - (he has his moments when he runs around like a goose and I really have to say settle down stop being so silly) but on the other hand he can sit down and be as good as gold when he wants to. But I definitely think his concentration and behaviours could be improved after a few days I have had with him lately where I have had to say things over and over to him etc etc.... So today I thought to myself right I'm going to see about some multivitamins. I went to the health food shop and the guy said he gets a lot of mums wanting the same for their children so recommended me - Efalex Liquid fish oil supplement and MicroGenics Everday Please multivitamin.

I sort of am second guessing myself now and wonder if they could do more harm than good ?

So your child is eating a balanced varied diet and has had no Dr recommendation due to deficiencies?

No I would not bother giving vitamins.

I give vitamins to my DS1 who is 7 and who has not eaten meat, veggies or fruit since 15-18m of age. We get annual blood tests to check his levels of various items and take vitamins recommended by the Dr for those deficiencies.

I find fish oil very helpful for my airy fairy, can't concentrate DD, but with a balanced diet I wouldn't be bothering with a multi vit,

Over rated, you should only give vitamins to those who genuinely need the vitamin support to raise deficiencies and under supervision of your child's paed/gp etc.
Don't just give it willy nilly it has the potential to harm.

I give the gummy bear multi and omega vitamins to my fussy eating 5 year old - he is too fussy for the non gummy bear ones. I don't see any harm can come from giving them a try?

I do notice a difference with DD1 on and not on fish oil supplements. A couple of times I've run out and not bought any more and it takes about 7-14 days before I'm wondering why DD has gone nuts. Then I realise we've stopped taking fish oil, buy more and things get back to 'normal.' I guess it is possibly a placebo effect but so long as it works I don't care. happy.gif

I wouldn't say his diet is great by any means so I suppose in that respect the multi could help him by the sounds of it.
