Hi we're looking at starting DS1 into Joey scouts this year.

We're looking SOR - and would be keen to hear any comments or recc's.

Depends where you live, how far stouh, they are in almost every suburb.

I have one whos just left joeyscouts as he was too old, now a cub. Its was a VERY small group but also very quiet so they didnt get lost or forgotten! Its the one in Hale road Thornlie, a nice little group and a lovely leader.

Hi, my daughter joined last year and did a whole year. She had lots of fun, it was well organised. Each week was a different theme and they worked on lots of crafty type stuff. Had a few excursions through out the year - on the weekends, including a 1 night camp out (we opted out of that).


We went to the Willagee-Kardinya group, was in Willagee Scout hall, Monday night 5.30-6.30pm I think.

She isn't doing it this year, because her girl friend isn't doing it either.

My daughter is about to start her second year of joeys at 1st Canning (not too far from Curtin Uni on Centenary Ave). They meet Mondays 5-6 and do lots of fun activities - a lot of cooking and craft. They have a few joey events each year - joey world and joey leap are both great fun. They will generally have 1 camp a year - we went on the one Green Apples mentioned last year and it was great (I stayed as a parent helper). DS2 is a cub and DS1 is a scout so we have lots of scouting activities happening. 1st Canning is a sea scout group so once they get to scouts they have a sailing program too which DS1 loves. Scouts are hosting the joeys on a camp later this term too (and the cubs have a raft making contest the same weekend). It is a lot of fun and my kids love it.

We will be living in Willetton - so I guess the Bullcreek / leeming troop. Tues afternoons.. would be the closest one.

Elle - Willetton have a cub group but not joeys (my DS1 went to cubs there when he first started). We live in Riverton so depending on where in Willetton you live then 1st Canning isn't too far away - just on the other side of Shelley Bridge (Leach Highway). I know one joey in the group who lives near Colins Rd and another comes fron Canningvale each week. One other thing is that you get to try for up to 4 weeks to see if you want to join.

my son started as joey in suburb 3083 in 2005 was cub till 2010 went to cuborees in 2007 (big storm) 2010 did not want to go to be scout he would have been a good scout

MY ds6 is starting at Salter Point Joeys, which is pretty much Manning! Its on a Tuesday from 5-6pm My other elder boy has done 2yrs there and is just moving up to cubs
