A thought occurred to me last night while I was, ah, accommodating AF...

...why, exactly, are tampon strings blue? Not black or peach or green or white?

Does anyone know? And what other inconsequential headscratchers have occurred to you?

Depends on the brand. I recall green & peach strings.

They are blue so that when you are standing naked atop the world, legs spread in the stance of conquering hero, the string blends with the sky behind you and nobody knows you've got your period because that would remind people you are female and thus lessen the impact of your heroic deed.

Either that or something thought blue would look nice. shrug.gif

I don't think I've ever seen a blue one, just white or pink.

I see I need to try more brands...

Mind you, this morning a colleague openly wondered what breastmilk tastes like, followed by an in-depth description by the several of the mothers in the office. I think he got more detail than he really wanted. So I'm not the only one asking daft questions today!

It hides the blood. Because everybody knows that we bleed blue when we're menstruating.
