Hi

Please tell me why parents choose to spend a fortune on accessories for children when they grow out of them so quickly. Would the baby notice if they were in a cheap stroller like your parents had? Or in designer clothes they will soon grow out of? Will they grow up to be a better person? I wonder if spoiling kids is a good thing. They will have enough trouble establishing a unique identity and a life as it is.
Is the baby thing about the parents wanting to show off to other parents?

Interesting first post.

I can see that you have used question marks but it seems you don't really want an answer so I won't offer one.

For fun, my mum told my brother that it's tradition that the baby's uncle pays for the pram, then showed him the price of a Bugaboo. Poor guy believed her too.

I know everyone has to post for the first time, but I find this an odd first post on a parenting forum. I'm not sure you meant this, but it comes across as very "parents these days are doing everything wrong" and you know what, I think we all get that message loud and clear.

If your question is genuine, just poorly worded. SOME parents spend a lot on baby things for the same reason anybody buys luxury goods. Sometimes it's a question of quality or design. Sometimes it's because they are show offs that attach value to superficial things.
