Hello all
We are currently doing a PGD cycle and my OPU was yesterday and went quite well.
But... I have a very bruised neck on both sides just under where my jaw connects.
I have had 3 OPU's, 3 D&C's, a lap, tonsils and wisdom teeth out and never experienced this before.

The OPU was sedation so no tube down my throat, any thoughts on why I have the bruising?

The bruises are symmetrical on both sides and actually hurt when I try to sleep on my side.

Curiouser and curiouser.... original.gif

Hi AmberNut,

I actually had the same thing once, but no idea why or how it happened? Very uncomfortable!
I always wondered if it was from how they lifted me??? But guess ill never know lol.

Good Luck with your cycle!

it sounds like some bruising from your anaesthetic. Given you didn't have a tube, you would have had a mask over your face giving you oxygen. When you are given sedation it can suppress your breathing and/or relax your tongue. This can be worse if you do snore or are overweight or big chested.
I'm guessing the bruising is from the anaethetist doing jaw support which is pushing up and forward your bottom jaw to stop the tongue falling back over your airway. depending on how long your procedure took, they would have been holding your jaw till they finished and the drugs had worn off giving your muscles tone again. Hopefully it wont last to long.

Mirror, mirror, shiny glass, tell me that is NOT my ass!!
I agree with Lep_78

I woke up with the same thing after my D&C - and I put it down to them trying to open/move my jaw (I had upper and lower jaw surgery about 2 years ago because my tongue was too far back).
