I'm planning on using prefolds with covers. Has anyone tried to use the small BBH PUL covers on a newborn? I am trying to work out if it is worth getting hold of some newborn size ones (as they won't be used for long probably and there aren't many around 2nd hand).

I did! The smalls were a little large to start with, but DD2 quickly grew into them (she was 3.77kg born). This time though I have splurged and bought a few newborn sized ones, as I think they will give a "neater" fit.

I'm using the newborn size. Mine was 3.6kg at birth and is 4.7 kg now (1 month) and we're using them with prefolds. Have been absolutely perfect - no leaks, easy to wash and dry. We have 2 BBH covers and 2 others (bambino mios) and the 4 covers just about last us 2 days with just air drying between changes and a rinse or proper wash when they get pooed on.
I can't remember how much they cost new, but given how frequently we've been using them I'd say probably worth it!

The small BBH PUL covers are a bit big for my tiny newborns (recent babe was under 3kg at birth).
