I've just rung the lactation consultants at the hospital I had DS at but I had to leave a message on their answering machine. Am going out of my mind waiting for someone to call me back.
Is it silly of me to assume that if DS (who is 23 days old) is sleeping well and having plenty of wet nappies (up to 5 nice, wet nappies already today and it is only 11am) he is getting adequate milk while breast feeding. He fed for around 10 mins at 4am this morning and since then he has only been on for about 12 mins (if that) in the last 7 hours. Is it niave of me to assume that my let done is that fast and his feeding is that efficient that he is getting all the milk he requires. I wish they came with a little gauge so you knew they were getting enough. |

That seems a reasonable assumption to me.
Have you also tried your state's parenting line? Or your MCHN? You could also organise to go in for a weigh - my hospital said to come in any time up to about a month old if I had concerns, and I'm sure you could just go to the MCH office and ask if you're really worried. |

And you could call the ABA helpline, this is a pretty straight forward bfing question.
All the best and if baby has lots of pale wee and 2 or more soft yellow poos each 24 hrs this indicates that baby is getting enough milk. Also good signs are settling after most feeds, waking for feeds and being alert and active when awake. |

Is he feeding a lot overnight? He might still have his days and nights mixed up.
