Hi All,
DH and I are trying to conceive #2. DS was conceived naturally but it did take 15 months. We've only been trying for about 5 months this time, but my cycles have been getting longer lately, so a GP gave me a referral to see a fertility specalist (sp?). We have an appointment next Friday, and I want to be prepared. So this month I've been tracking my cycle (temperature and OPK's) and I also wanted to get some blood tests done, so we have the results for the appointment. But I'm not sure what things they should be testing? Can someone please help me so I know what to ask the doctor for? Many thanks. |

Don't worry about getting the BT's if it's next Friday, the FS will most probably do their own and look at other things at the same time.
GL with your appointment. |

yeah no easy way to guess what they will test for and they may want some tests done on specific cycle days. I didn't pay any more for blood tests done through an IVF clinic compared to my GP but maybe it is different elsewhere? My clinic had a pathology lab there or sometimes I would ask for a request for a pathology place closer to home. Most things were free except for testing that would have cost no matter who ordered it- like genetic testing (this was for a specific reason though and not a standard test). The big cost is treatment cycles but they may not even recommend that and you can ask for all cost details up front to help budget.
and I hope the appointment goes well! |

I just noticed you are from Melbourne so if you are through MIVF then you might find all blood tests are bulk billed and scans/appts will be free if you are through RWH and if you are through Freemasons or an outreach clinic you will get a partial reimbursement of scans and the Drs appt through Medicare. That is presuming things haven't changed so don't rely on it.
They sting you with the big costs later if you end up needing IVF or other treatment so it is nice to get somethings bulk billed |

Going to a private hospital in the Northern suburbs as a public patient as it's close to home. |
