Hi all,

Just out of interest, I am curious about where everyone fits their kids. Do you put kids in rooms according to ages, sex?
I have 5 kids, three boys and two girls. I cant put my 2 girls together because they are my oldest (Nearly 12) and youngest (1) so it always ends up with 2 of the boys having to share (9, 6, 4). We are about to buy a new house. It has five bedrooms like we have now and so I am just starting to think about how we will sought bedrooms again.

What does everyone else do?

Your youngest two could share for many years.

Before we renovated it was two eldest boys together then the three younger ones in together (two boys and a girl). They were all young so it really didn't matter all that much.

When we had a 2br place, it was three in one room, baby in with us.

Then we moved to a 4br. Currently DH and I share, as do the two youngest - 18mo and 4yo girls in tone of the two small bedrooms. The oldest two - 7yo girl, 6yo boy - share one of the two big rooms.

In the future, the youngest two will move to the big room and the oldest two will get a small bedroom each. AT the moment they are happy to keep sharing as they are at similar stages and they aren't concerned by the boy/girl thing.

At the moment we're in a 3 bedroom house.

DH and i share (obviously!)
DS1 (8.5) and DS2 (7.5) share.
DD1 (6), DS3 (5), DS4 (3.5), and DD2 (2) share.

Needless to say it's not an ideal situation. In just over a week (YAY!!!!!) we'll be moving into our new extension so we'll have 5 bedrooms (plus a study!). DS1 and DS2 will share. DS3 and DS4 will share, and DD1 and DD2 will share

3 bedrooms here (plus office but it has no door so it really is just an office lol)

Myself and DH share
DD7 on top bunk, DD9 and DD4 on bottom double
DS6 on top bunk, DD6 on bottom bunk.

We have had this arrangement for quite some time and it seems to work. Occasionally my 9 year old will complain about sleeping with her 4 year old sister, but funnily enough, on nights that DD4 ends up in bed with us, DD9 usually does as well lol. Luckily we have a king!

OP- your youngest 2 could easily go together.

We have 4 bedrooms.

DS16 on his own
DD12 and DD11 sharing
DD6 and DS4 sharing.

Thankfully we are currently building a 6 bedroom house.

We have a 5 bedroom house at the moment.

My 3 daughters and my son all have their own rooms, but we are expecting number 5 now, so we will eventually have 2 that will share.

We have a 6 bedroom house with 7 children plus DP and I.

15 yo DD - Own room
14 & 12 yo DS's Share a very large room
8 yo DD - Own room
3 yo DD - Own room
5 yo & 13 mnth Old DS's - Share

3 bedroom small house
DH and I share:)
then ds1 5,ds2 4,dd1 2,dd2 2 all share with 2 sets of bunks.

TUse to be ds1 and 2 together then dd1 and 2 together but they always ended up in the same room..

Will change it back when they get sick of it.. unless we go for another bub
