Try and teach him to drink through a straw, as that can be a good way of fixing sore ears. Keep a big bag of snacks and distractions. Try and get a spare seat if there is space (often the stewards will help with this by moving people), so he has a bit of space to wiggle around.

Goodluck.

I've always ditched the healthy eating rule that we usually follow, and I stock up on lollies, lifesavers, little packets of biscuits or chips etc...and try to make sure he's chewing and swallowing on take off and landing to help with his ears.

ETA sorry just realised he'll be way too little for all of the above food!! But food of some description is definitely the key.

We flew to the UK with DS at 11 months.

Most importantly take a change of clothes for you and your partner. There will at some point be vomit, too much wee, poo overflow or split food.

Other: Those pre packaged pouch foods like rafferties
We had downloaded the young Einstein series on our itouch which he loved
We booked a bassinet and even though he was too big to sleep in it, it was great for him to sit in and play with toys, and just a place to store stuff
He parked himself on my boob for takeoff
Only one parent at a time should eat meals, ask them to hold one for you for later
If you are only going for a short time take enough nappies with you so you do not waste your holiday looking for nappies
Buy one new small toy for the plane
Do not take toys that make noise.
We took about 3 lengths of 1m string, so we could tie off whatever he was playing with to the folding table. That way when he threw it, or it fell we could find it easily. Same with water bottle
Have fun

Definitely second PPs suggestions. When travelling to Europe with our then bottle fed 6mo last year, we also had a 'food' bag which we packed inside carry-on luggage. In it we had everything that would need closer inspection at security (boiled water, food pouches etc) plus formula in a dispenser. This made it so easy on the plane and at security, we could just whip out the bag and have everything we needed for feed times. I also ditched the nappy bag and bought a Skip Hop travel change mat - brilliant! Made airplane nappy changes a breeze, we just had extra nappies in the bigger bag if needed. DH used a backpack OS which fit all DS food and nappy mat easily, plus our wallets and passports etc, which we used everyday. Also an umbrella stroller might be a good idea too (although we had an ergo aswell), we bought a cheapie over there and brought it home with us, very handy to have options original.gif

Eta: iPhone spelling!
