So how do you clean your toilet?
Do you reuse cloths or just use those antibacterial wipes for the outside etc? We have good males in the house who don't really splatter, so usually I would scrub the inside of the bowl etc with the toilet brush and disinfectant/jif etc, but its the seat and outside that I am more curious about?? I'm not keen on the disposable wipes for environmental reasons but then wasn't sure about the hygeine of reusing other cloths/sponges etc. So, what do you do? Thanks |

I put toilet cleaner in, leave, scrub with toilet brush and wipe seat over with wipes usually. Due to my son's toileting issues our toilet is often very dirty, wipes are a quick and more hygienic way to clean the seat in my opinion.

I use toilet paper on the seat, lid & outside, with some toilet duck (or equivalent) on it. I flush afterwards.
Inside I use the toilet brush. |

I start with the outside, wipe down bowl and seat etc with some bathroom cleaner spray stuff. I have toilet cleaner squirted in the bowl doing its thing while I do this. Then I do under the seat and lid, around the top rim of the toilet bowl, then lastly scrub the inside of the bowl and under the rim etc.
I don't use disposable wipes, I use a chux type cloth, which I will then put through the wash and use again next time I use the toilet. I make sure my bathroom cloths are a different colour to my kitchen cloths so there are no mix ups |

I used to use bicarb in a shaker then pour in some vinegar scrub, use some vinegar on the seat with loo paper and flush.
Lately I've been lazy and have been using Coles bleach gel squirt it around, scrub and flush, disinfectant wipes on the seat but I make the wipes myself - so just paper towel soaked in disinfectant and throw it in the bin. eta floor gets disinfectant and boiling hot water. I found that I would go through too much or it would just fall to pieces.... (We have 3 in our house) This post has been edited by ~~~: 05/02/2013, 11:35 AM |

I just use whatever cloth on the seat, lid and rim actually. We have a mountain of old washers that get used for wiping such things. They go in the wash, get washed and hung in the sun so I'm not worried about them being "germy" or whatever. The actual bowl just gets a thorough squirt of domestos or similar, soaks for a bit and gets flushed. I rarely scrub it unless there's a stubborn mark or something.
Every now and then I pull the whole toilet seat off and soak it in the laundry tub or hose it down outside just to really clean it (and the bowl underneath where the seat screws down). |

We have those blue bleach toilet cistern block things that keep the inside of the toilet reasonably clean. The outside and the seat I wipe over with those bathroom wet wipe thingies. The inside looks clean most of the time but if I do have to clean it I squirt Harpic White and Shine in, let it sit for 10 minutes and then use a toilet brush.

I use toilet paper instead of a cloth for my seat & lid as well.
It does sort of disintegrate, however I always flush the loo if i need any more than a few sheets. |

Toilet brush inside the bowl and a rag soaked in disinfectant for the seat and outside.
