I'm thinking of getting a new stroller to walk my 2 year old for long walks so I can get some exercise. I have an expensive pram already (peg perego) but the pavements where I live slope badly toward the road and I have to work really hard to stop the wheels turning into the slope. It's so hard to keep it straight. And if I lock the wheels forward it just creates other problems and doesn't stop the issue 100% anyway.
So, I am looking for a good long distance stroller, good for power walking, comfy for baby, not too expensive (under $500). Have been looking at combi, well jogger, mountain buggy, maclaren online - just need help deciding! |

Buy a second hand Mountain Buggy online. I have had P&T, Maclaren, combi and I have found the MB by far the best for walking, it is easy to push, smooth and handles off road too.

I bought my Mountain Buggy on eBay for $150. It was in decent condition (slightly faded but in great working condition) and I love it. I too have unsealed, sloping, bumpy footpaths in my suburb which is why I bought it to complement my "indoor" pram.
I love my MB - it goes everywhere and is adjustable for tall/short people. You can get accessories for it like shades and clip-on bars but the MB brand is quite expensive. I've bought generic universal size ones and they work just fine. |

With the MB I would look at the urban with the bigger wheels, I know people who have the swift and love it but they find it hard to walk walk with it now because the wheels are smaller in size and they can feel the weight of their child. The wheels when I looked where about the same size on the BJ mini gt and this was one of the reasons I went the urban for. The bigger the wheels the easier the pram is to push

Another who recommends the MB I have an urban elite(NZ manufacture) and its great over most surfaces. It also works really well with heavy weight. I can put my 4yo and my 2yo in (yes completely irresponsible) and still have no issue over loose deep gravel, together they are just over the 35kg weight limit.

MB Urban, second hand. MBs last forever!!!
My sister just bought one which must be about 8 years old, and it's excellent (though she has to replace one tyre.) My Urban is China-made 2010 model, and perfect after 2.5 years use, with some hard driving. I wouldn't worry too much about the NZ/China made business at all. I'm so into 2nd hand prams now, I would never buy a new one again. (Have bought a small light Bugaboo bee for use overseas, and a MB Duet 2nd hand.) |
