Ok so at 4 weeks pregnant I took a first response TestWhich came up very dark very quickly. Went to the doctors and got the pregnancy confirmed.
I am now 7 weeks exactly and thought just for fun to take another test. It was definitely 2 lines but it was quite faint (both tests were done at the same time on separate days) Does anyone know if this means anything bad? I am such a worry wart and want to be reassured Thanks ladies |

Best thing would be a dating scan and/or getting bloods done to check the BHCG levels, these are done a couple days apart to see how the levels are rising

If you read the fine print on the packaging of the pregnancy test some actually say a faint positive is still a positive.
Back to the drs to be safe I say |

The tests with two lines are not quantitative, which means they are not meant to tell you the amount of HCG, jus that it is present.
You could go to the drs to be sure if it would make you stress less. |

I agree the best way is to ask your doc for an early scan (can be costly - ours was about $180 from memory) or the quantative hcg blood tests which are done 48 hours apart to see if the levels are rising properly.
Or if it will take a few days to get in to see your GP you could always try taking a clear blue test or one of the other brands incase you had a dud FR, or maybe you'd drunk a lot of water to dilute the levels or something? I don't know if that is possible, just hoping it was a total one-off anomaly for you. Personally the only way I'd be able to calm down in this situation was with the blood tests telling me that the levels were rising properly. Good luck! |

Go the quant bhcg bloods - easy and reliable. You really need to wait til 6-7 weeks to be able to see a heartbeat on a scan anyway.
A scan too early can sometimes cause more anxiety than its worth if they say 'ah, I can't see a heartbeat, but that's ok... Come back in a couple of weeks!' . Reassuring its not! Best of luck! |

I had that happen to me, OP. I think I took 8 tests in total. If you read the back, it says that one of the lines can appear more faint than the other and this doesn't affect the result. Well, it said that on my tests. I got a bit scared too but she was there and growing well - still is.
If in doubt, check with your doctor. I never had any blood tests confirming my HCG. |

Honestly, all peeing on a stick is going to do is stress you out. Is the line darker? I think it's lighter. Oh dear, what does that mean etc. You can do your head in.
Urine HCG tests are qualitative-- yes, the hormone is present. That's it. Unless you have any worrying symptoms (spotting, cramping etc), I would personally not do anything. Additional blood tests and scans are not required unless there is the clinical suspicion of a miscarriage. Can you try to stop overanalysing OP? Unless you have actual symptoms which have you worried, try to relax and have some faith in your body. Easier said than done sometmes I know, I have had miscarriages myself. But ultimately, all you will be doing by repeatedly doing pregnancy tests in the abscence of any clinical reason is cause yourself unneccessary worry. |

My first bfp was ridiculously dark and I wasn't even 4 weeks pregnant. I did 2 more tests and they were both very faint. I would try not to worry but if you are speak to your GP and either have your bloods taken or get a referral for an early scan.
