I found a lump in my breast not a lump as in a round pea shape more like a flat mass. I haven't been poking or prodding today and just had a look and the skin is all red in that area, it's not really painful or anything. I'm thinking mastitis or something but I'm not unwell or feverish is this unusual..
I do have an appt in a few hours so will have an official diagnosis later on! |

Definitely get it checked t by your gp...most likely nothing but better to be on the safe side.
I got a lump checked about 5 years ago, I was 25, no kids so definitely not mastitis. I had a simple US and was referred to the local public breast clinic who did a biopsy of the area. Turned out to be a benign cyst, which I now get checked every couple of years. |

Hello, One of the Mastitis symptoms is A hard lump or wedge-shaped area of engorgement in the vicinity of the plug that may feel tender, hot, swollen or look reddened. It can be just beginning of Mastitis. It is always better to check with specialist to take further actions. Take care and good luck. |

Well the GP said a definite breast lump and has organised an Ultrasound, mammogram and possible needle aspiration kind of freaked me out.
The heat and redness underneath had me hoping it was an infection of some kind that I can take antibiotics for, fingers crossed it still might be. |

The good news is you found it and something is being done. How long do you have to wait for the US?

And none of those things are fun but I found them not too uncomfortable. I found 2 lumps last year within 2 months of each other and in separate breasts. Both times I had ultrasounds, mammogram and needle biopsy. One was a benign cyst and the other was a fluid filled cyst that had to be drained.
I hope everything works out for you and I know it's hard but try not to freak yourself out while you play the waiting game. |

Thanks everyone, the waiting game is the hardest.
The GP rang while I was there to organize appointments and they said the 18th Feb, I was thinking how am I going to wait 2 whole weeks :0 Then he said no I need something this week, that was scary....and I'm now booked in for this Wednesday. At least that's not too long to stress. I only felt it last night because I slept with no bra usually I sleep with it on as I get really sore breasts for about 2 weeks out of 4 every cycle! |

For those interested I've had my scans and apart from heaps of cysts in both breasts there appears to be nothing nasty that's according to the lady doing the scans.
The lump I can feel is a cyst closer to the surface the others are much deeper hence the reason I can't feel them. The GP said he'd call this afternoon to let me know results hopefully he has nothing to add! |
