Love mine. We have an omega brand (from the Good Guys). It was $1800. We also bought a fan from the same company $500.
We do a lot of entertaining and it is a godsend having a larger oven. |

We have a Baumatic & I love it. It has the "not hot" glass (sorry, can't think of the correct terminology atm) which is great with little people about. One thing to be wary of is internal measurements, some are full 900mm externally but deceptively small inside. About the only negative I've come across is that they take a long time to preheat and it's a lot of power usage if all you want to do is cook a pizza for 10 mins or bake one tray of bikkies etc. If we had had space & money to burn I'd have put in a 900mm AND a small oven.

We have got a 600mm free standing, the same came in 900mm, the brand is Emilia. Don't touch it with a 10 ft pole, it's a piece of crap and I wish I'd never bought it.
It looks nice, it's easy enough to clean, the gas burners are good. Eighteen months after I got it (and still under warranty), the glass on the inside of the oven door shattered. I had been cooking in it, turned it off, opened the door to make sure I'd got everything out and noticed some glass on the floor. When I opened it all the way I realised the entire glass panel on the inside was completely shattered. It took them FIVE weeks to get someone out to replace it. I had also asked for the timer to be replaced as it had worked for 2 days only. And for the thermostat to be replaced as the food had started to burn, when previously the temp was pretty spot on. The glass and timer were replaced, the repairman checked the temperature and deemed it to be fine. It wasn't fine. The food kept burning, it was like it just kept getting hotter and hotter. Two weeks after they repaired it, I turned it on to bake some potato wedges, turned my back and nearly shot through the ceiling when I heard an almighty BANG!!!! The bloody glass had exploded. The panel that had been replaced. They promised to make it a priority repair, this time it only took three weeks. I asked for the thermostat to be replaced again. It wasn't. The food kept burning. I rang them and complained again and they sent me a "heat diffuser", which is basically a sheet of metal that sits in the bottom of the oven. The food no longer burns but it doesn't cook as evenly as it once did and I don't trust it at all. Cooking times are all over the place. Avoid Emilia like the plague, you will regret it if you ever buy one. Dont be fooled by their attractive exterior. |

TNMN - The Beaumatic is the one we are considering as it has the closed door grill function - don't see how you can grill with all the heat coming up at you while you are trying to use the top of the thing...why do they design freestanding units this way?????

Yeah I hear you, why do they design a lot of things the way they have? Because they weren't designed by the people who use them!

In our last house, there was a westinghouse 900mm free standing oven. I wasn't a fan. Hard to get underneath it to sweep out, difficult to keep side cleans. the burners were the same level as the benches and the side edging on the benches started warping because of heat from the gas burners. Oven takes a while to heat up and seems excessive for only one tray of food to cook.
In our house to build, I'm going for two 600mm ovens, side by side. My sister has one of those multi-oven country style ones and she loves it (like this). I can't justify that much money but they do look fabulous. |
