Hello!

My 4.5 month old DD has had a crazy month sleep wise - growth spurts, sleep regression, christmas trip.

I took some hope in the Wonder Weeks book and decided to hold out until mid week 19 when the wonder week is meant to subside. Miraculously (?! fingers crossed) we have seen an improvement in her temperament, night and daytime sleeps. No-one I know has heard of the WWs, so I would just be interested to hear other people's experience. Have you found it to be pretty much spot on?

Well, my 4.5 month old DS (20 weeks yesterday) had been a bloody nightmare for the last 3 weeks. Everything in the 19th week WW has hit us - appetite fluctuations & breast refusal, needing my constant attention and never-ending stimulus, catnapping again, waking every 2-3 hours in the night and the crying, oh good grief, the crying.... But has also gained 500 grams in a fortnight, has perfect aim when reaching and is raising his bum and making crawling movements. So yes, the 'tough' parts of the Wonder week and the milestones has held true to their list - however I won't be convinced until the relative calm they say I will get between 20-23 weeks arrives

So far they have been 100% spot on for my twin boys. They are currently in WW9, so only one more to go! Each time they have picked up different skills which has been very interesting to watch.

For us it was pretty accurate. I remember a couple of times having an absolute prick of a day, DS being uncharacteristically demanding and clingy etc, having a good old frustrated bawl and then later picking up my phone (I had the WW iphone app rather than the book) and seeing he'd just started another wonder week. And suddenly it would all make sense, I'd have the strength to keep going because I knew it wouldn't last forever and there was a reason for his sudden change of behaviour.

It's also been quite interesting seeing the new skills and abilities as they've developed and understanding a little bit more of the mental processes that went on behind the scenes.

I never bought the book, just went off the wonder weeks calendar, and it was spot on for DD2. It really helped me anticipate when we were going to have challenging times, and helped me understand what was going on & why. And most importantly, when it would be over!

Nope. I think the first few fit, but not after that. DS marches to the beat of his own drum

I don't 'believe' in it for my son...a couple of times it's been right on the money, but certainly there was no sign of the first few.

I used to really get the irrits when women from my mothers group slavishly ascribed every behaviour to a 'leap' or 'wonder week for sure '. Seriously, they are babies, not pre-programmed little robots.

For me, the 4 month one and the current 9-10 month 5 week alleged leap have coincided with unsettled and difficult times.

Otherwise, I think it's generally decent advice and suggestions about developmentally suitable activities for infants.

I don't think it can do any harm to have a read, anyway!

DD was pretty close. Not sure if it was her or me looking out for it but it seemed to match

It never fit my daughter.
I think it's similar to Star Sign stuff, there are way too many people in the world for it to be exact for every one.
My daughter was born on her due date(which is supposed to be important for WW's) and she never fit the week's 'reading'.
As Jillian says, they aren't robots, they hit milestones in their own time, not anything to do with an app or book.
