What kid isn't into Lego.
 My 7 year old DS was into doing magic tricks just recently. Kmart had a few good magic set boxes just recently, so I picked up a $20 box for his next birthday. Is he into books? My DS is turning 8 and he loves the Guiness Book of World REcord books. or Ripley's Believe it or Not books- things like that. Otherwise real board games are good- battleship etc.

I second seeing if he likes Skylanders. That's all DS8 has wanted for the last 18mths. In fact, we stalked down another 2 today!

OP, you've probably already bought a present by now, but I just bought a 7 year old boy an Angry Birds Knock Em Down board game and it was a huge hit.
