Argh! Doing my head in! Need to get DD's applications in for her prospective shool to begin 2014. I should have just applied to Penrhos when she was born, but I didn't think that would be a viable option, But it is. Way too late now to enroll rolleyes.gif Plus I am keen for her to go co-ed. Applied to Peter Carnley in Wellard (will be very lucky to get in), will put in an application with All Saints next week.
Suggest more, WA ladies! We will not be able to get into (and not keen) on a catholic school (non-denominational) but do want an independent school if possible, k-12. Would also consider a really good public school but unfortunately out catchement area is out of most good school zones. There is no way I will send her to the school in our catchement area. We are in teh area for Success primary but it only goes to year 7 I think.
Suggestions? From probably Como-ish to Rockingham.
Bloody school!

Carey Baptist, I've heard is good.

As an ex-St Mary's girl though, Penrhos? *sigh*

Hey, in the last Peter Carnley newsletter they said they still had kindy spots for 2013, so if you applied awhile ago she should be OK to get a spot 2014.

I was looking at the kings college in Bertram for awhile, looks very nice with great opportunies but very small. Only about 200 odd students from K-12.

I hear good things about John Wollaston, don't know if that's too far?

Oh I hope so, I'd love her to go to PC. I've got the app in so fingers crossed BUT when I put it in they told me that it was full ... So that's good to hear. I still need to do a tour. Might request a private one so they remember me blush.gif
Kings is christian so not too keen on that (I think we'd need to jump through a few hoops to get in).
I LOVE the look of All Saints - bloody expensive but def putting an app in there. They also have a bus service that actually comes to our area!
John Wally is a bit too far.
I can't believe how frustrating it is and she's not even bloody three yet!

I'm in the same boat for DS who starts in 2014 as well. Got an application in very early for Frederick Irwin in Mandurah but highly doubt I'll get a spot. have also got an application in for St Bernadette's in Port Kennedy. there's already 60 odd on the waitlist for Mandurah Baptist College so I've been told.
I'm in a bit of a pickle too as I don't want to send DS to our local public school.

(FYI I'm not catholic and DS hasn't been baptised )

OP, can you explain why you don't want Catholic or Christian, but you're ok with Anglican?

To be accepted into a catholic or chrisitan ( both, I'm not sure?) school she'd need to be baptised. We aren't prepared to do that plus the religious component some schools will require of us just to be considered.

Do Anglican schools not require baptism/christening?

Depends on the school and how competitive they are. I know people who got into catholic schools (Kolbe, so in the area you are talking) without being baptised/christened but both kids were VERY academically and musically gifted, so just the type of kids the school wanted.

Tranby College has large waitlists at primary school level, don't even dream of Frederick Irwin. Perhaps Living Waters (siblings went there and it wasn't overly religious)?

Though I wouldn't fixate too much on it being a K-12 school. You never know what kind of school your year 5/6 child will be best suited to, I changed schools in Year 9 to a K-12 school and fit in just fine.
