I've been colouring my hair at home for a couple of years, I have a sort of light brown/honey blondey type hair. I had left it ages since I last coloured it, so wanted to do my roots before going back to work, only I totally forgot the colours I use (there are a couple that I can use), and I obviously bought the wrong one, as instead of a honey blonde, it's taken up a real red colour
Would love any suggestions/advice you can give me. This post has been edited by zande: 03/02/2013, 04:03 PM |

Show us a pic? It might look better than you think.
The option for 'home fixing' would be to go darker, going lighter would be tricky and best left to a hairdresser I would think. |

I agree going darker is the easy fix.

If it's a lot darker then you like, it might be hard to get it back to your normal lighter colour as quick as you'd like. I'd probably head to the hairdresser and get them to strip the colour back and do a full head of foils so your hair isn't totally damaged by bleach.

Many years ago, when my Mum was still alive, I decided I wanted to go Ash Blonde. I first made sure it was the right colour for my hair, (which is dark blonde) as per the back of the box. It was the first time I ever bought a colour. My mother put it in my hair for me, and as she was doing it, she kept saying, "I don't like the look of this" because of the colour of the hair dye, which was black, but I just insisted that it was probably supposed to be that colour. When I finally washed it out, I got the shock of my life, as my hair was black with grey streaks through it, and had a thick line of grey right through my part, so I looked just like Mrs Munster!!! In a panic I rang the company whose number was on the back of the box, and the lady told me that the best thing for me to do was to wash my hair, dry it naturally, wash it again, dry it naturally, etc, etc, etc, until it all came out. I probably washed it 3 times during the day, and ended up putting my hair back the next day when I went to work, and nobody even noticed the change. It took about a week of washes to get out.

Thanks all. Will pop out to Priceline tomorrow and try a colour remover as a first step. I am wondering tho whether what I actually used was a colour or a bleach? I was only going to go a couple of shades lighter than mine, but it's ended up red?
