Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else has felt like this... We have been TTC for a while now and were almost at the stage of specialist help when to our delight we fell pregnant.
I am only 5 1/2 weeks. The last few days i have just felt an overwhelming sense of panic that this little one is comming and i have no idea why as it was very much planned and wanted. I think what lies underneath if the fear of loosing 'my time' with my partner (which had been thought about before TTC)
I guess i just need a little reassurance that i'm over reacting and hopefully this feeling will pass and it will just bring us together. I feel awful even writing this.
Thanks so much.

Hi Kato,

That is very common, and you are definately not the only one. When I first found out I was pregnant with DS, I spent the first 5 days or so swearing. You have a good amount of time ahead of you to get used to the idea, but it does take time for some of us.

Try not to stress too much about it, and just take things as they come. There are also days when you won't feel pregnant, these are also common, and have similar feelings.

Hi Kato
IMO it is perfectly normal to freak out at the prospect of such a huge change to your life. Yes naturally some parts of your life will fall to the wayside and new ones you never knew were possible will rise. but it is all up to the 2 of you, if there is some part of your life that you love you just need to put a little more effort into its up keep.
I found DH and I have come closer, we have more to share, more things that make us smile, things that make us feel like the central cogs in a very important team. We make sure we have 1:1 time with our DS, family time, us time (date night) and importantly me time. It takes some juggling and there have been times when us or me time means going to sleep early! But it is up to you to make it work for you.
Good luck
ETA, the first 6 weeks with baby is hell though ohmy.gif but around this time the baby will have its first genuine smile and you remember that things will eventually turn out ok, get some sleep then think about the above post biggrin.gif

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Along with the other posters I too will confirm that its normal to feel this way! original.gif

I had wanted to start trying to a baby long before my husband did and when he eventually said he was ready we started trying. We fell pregnant and my first reaction was "Oh sh*t!!". He was over the moon, but me not so much! I eventually got very excited but it was a big shock.

Being a parent is so tough, but it really is the best aswell! My little one is now 15 months old and throughout her life there have many times that I have been overwhelmed and over it. Don't even be afraid that you are the only one if you ever start to feel that way, I did and many friends confirmed that they too had felt this way. There are so many people out there that you can speak to original.gif

Your life will definitely change but thats not a bad thing! Maybe in the next 9 months do lots of exciting things with your partner, go out to dinners, movies, away, spend a day in your PJs watching movies, just be together doing whatever you both enjoy. Also make time for one another when the baby is here - some days will be better than others. BUt you can make time, babies sleep alot! wink.gif

Goodluck with everything!!

Thanks so much everyone. I'm hoping it is just the hormones and Mum assures me that once i meet the little bundle all my fears will melt away.
It's really nice to know that others have felt the same.
