Hi,
Just a few chickens Qs . 1. I bought different laying pellets a few weeks ago and have noticed that the chickens are pooing so much more, is this possible? 2. Also, 3 of my 4 hens are laying, they are about 26/27 weeks. Will #4 ever start laying? Hmmmm, that's it for now..... Ok another questions, can chickens get the flu, asking because my chickens and rooster have been spending lots of time out in the rain..... Thanks, This post has been edited by lucy-lu: 02/02/2013, 07:49 AM |

Chickens do get the flu, airborne viruses mainly, we have had our chooks on antibiotics before, look for signs like this.
chooks standing still closing their eyes, lethargic stuff coming out their nose which is clear their comb pales if you find one chook like this best to separate from other birds, we have a special small mobile cage for sick chooks. We give them an antibiotic called Triple C, it's a 5 day treatment, then follow with a probiotic. They can be ordered online or usually where you get feed from. Garlic is also good for them. |
