I'm single with an only child. She may or may not have kids. She has Autism, but can function well with assistance and understanding. My mum was saying she hopes to get a great-grandchild before she dies (thanks Mum, my child is 9, my nephew is 1 lol) but I really don't know if I will even get a grandchild. My nephew may marry and have kids, but out of 3 children, I think 2 grandchildren is all she'll get. My other brother and his partner won't have any, that's a given.

How would/do you feel at the prospect of not getting grandkids? Do you simply expect to be graced with at least 1?

I would be really upset to not have grandchildren. But I do have five children so I think I am fairly safe in presuming I will get a couple.

But if all my children decided not to have children I would support that decision.

I like cats, but I couldn't eat a whole one.
I've never really cared. My children were born when I was almost-37 and 40, so I don't necessarily expect to be around to meet any grandkids.

I've learnt not to have expectations in life as they often lead to disappointments.

I would love to have grandchildren however if my children are not blessed or chose not to have them, well so be it. Its their life to lead not mine.

Your children don't exist to produce grandchildren for you.

As some one who is treated like a grandchild incubator and almost completely ignored now DD has arrived, its really quite offensive and makes me feel quite worthless, like I should have never gone to university or had a career, I should have just started popping out kids becuase thats all Im good for.

I've never thought about it before. It doesn't worry me at all. I'm guessing with 3 kids I may get a few but it's not important to me.

I don't expect grandchildren as such, but I do hope. If and when my kids have kids is totally up to them. I won't push or comment. It's not my place to do so.

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
It's not something I really am bothered about. When I imagine my son as an adult I dont think about him having kids and it's not something I really care about to be honest.

Maybe it's because he's a baby still so it's hard to imagine him having babies.

I would love to have grandchildren. But I'd be happy with grandpuppies, too. As long as I have something to dote on in my old age wink.gif

My mom got a bit grand-crazed on me when I got married. I've got her 100% convinced that we're only having the one we've got. So she's content with spoiling kiddo (though now she harps on us to move home) while we secretly work on kid2. The pressure is a bit much when they really lay it on so I don't want to do that to kiddo or any subsequent children.
