Just following on from another thread I posted...

It seems we've hit the 8/9 month sleep regression. DS had gone from being the best self settler at night, to taking HOURS to get to sleep. Last night was nearly 3 hours, and it's just constant, inconsolable crying. I try bouncing, rocking, holding, patting, shushing, feeding, massaging, singing, cuddling etc to sleep. Nothing works.
Plus I'm back at work, DS is at daycare and doesn't take EBM so is reverse cycling, so we're up 2-4 times a night for a feed, but taking 30-60min to resettle. I'm beyond exhausted... I'm useless at work, horrendous at home (DH barely even looks at me out of fear I think...).

So I need some hope to hold on to!
How did you get through this sleep regression, and how long did it take?

I don't remember DD going through a sleep regression at that point, she had been sleeping poorly at night from 5 months on, but around 8 months is when we went from patting to sleep (and several times during the night) to self settling and night weaning. Would you consider this?it did involve a bit of crying but worked pretty fast.

I'm going through this right now I think they either regress badly at this age or get better. My DS got better, my DD is dreadful. She has never been a brilliant night sleeper and wouldn't know self settling if it bit her on the bum, but all in all its very crappy here right now.
I've no advice really, but apparently its common, they grow out of it and seems to be linked to separation anxiety.
