Just after some advice, the last few days I have been very short of breath and coughing a bit. My baby is sitting very high (IMO which is not medical at all) and two nights ago I noticed I was short of breath (much like when I had whooping cough last year, I could breath just not as much felt like it was going in) yesterday it was more in the afternoon to the evening (and if you felt my tummy by the end of the night right where my lungs are it was rock solid - the lower part not so much), I also noticed I was coughing because I had to. This morning I have woken up with it, I did try google and they said it can be normal but it also can be unusual - how helpful right.
I feel fine, I tried to sleep a bit upright last night but slunk down in my sleep as it was hurting my neck and not really doing anything. I was dx with asthma (which I know can play up when pregnant) when I was a teenager but have never had an attack, it is more seasonal (so I found in the 1st tri in spring I had a few days like this but that was usual for that time of year, it is not usual for me at this time of the year) and only diagnoised because the dr did a full medical on me when I went to get a script not because I complained of symptons or anything. Since having whooping cough last year I would have days where I was a bit like this or if I was to run I may get like this now since the WC but I have not been running. I am not sure if this is normal and to just keep on eye on it til my OB appt with my dr on wednesday or whether I need to get it checked out now? As I said I feel fine other then I am a bit short of breath/coughing etc If I felt like crap I would head to the dr I also don't want to be overreacting for something which could just be a common problem for pregnant women. |

I get that from time to time. Mine started in the first trimester but got better. Now it's coming back again. I think it's because your rib cage has to move so much more because of the space the baby is taking up.

Have you got any Ventolin to take?
As far as I was aware it is safe to take during pregnancy - it's also available over the counter. If the Ventolin doesn't help I'd be getting it checked out sooner than your appointment. But if it doesn't. I'd just mention it to your Ob. |

I think you should see your GP.

Thanks ladies, yes I do have ventolin but I assume it is out of date so I will get DH to stop by the chemsit on the way home. I have only ever used it when I first got dx and maybe a few times since then. Last year with WC my GP gave me a puffer but it was not ventolin it purple (not sure if it is safe for babies) and I had another one which I know is not safe. If I have had shortness since getting WC (before I was pregnant) as per GP's instructions I just used the purple one (which at the time she told me was similar to ventolin but different) if I really needed it.
I will see how I am going over the weekend (and take the ventolin I get DH to pick up for me) and if need be call my OB's midwife and see what she says. Of course if I get worse I will front up to the maternity ward. |
