Hello,
I was just wondering if any of you have tried the over the counter ovulation test kits? I have 1 bio daughter and 3 step daughters. I would really like to try for a boy...(this will be our last time)...and from all the research I've done, I've found that it's best to try to conceive about a day after you start ovulating....because the male sperm dies off faster. Those kits are kind of pricey and I didn't want to waste the money if they're not accurate. Is there a brand that's better than the other?

You can buy ovulation tests on ebay much cheaper, think i got about 40 tests for $12.

I had used the pricey store bought ones for two months, and I ovulated on the same day each time. So then I bought the internet cheapies, just to make sure my cycle continued that way, and so far it has.

As for trying for a particular gender, I am certainly no expert, but I thought that you would have to dtdon the day of ovulation (or perhaps even just one day before) simply because an egg only last about 24 hours, so dtd one day after ovulation could mean missing the egg? But I am not sure!

I buy my opks from oracle fertility. They are very cheap and very accurate. I generally have two positives over a 24 hour period, generally in the evening and again the next morning.
Definitely worth having a look- if you have plenty of them, you're able to use plenty of them to pinpoint O and time your BDing right

I too think a day after ovulation might miss the egg? The Internet cheapieswork just as well in my opinion - see gorgeous baby in my sig.

And only ttc if you would be thrilled with a girl also- as you may very well end up with one and she will be just as much a blessing as a boy.
