HiI am hoping for doe assistance from those who have placed there children into daycare. My on is 9 months OD and will be in care 3 days per week when I return to work next week. We have done two trial days ths week here he as just Been really angry and will scream for the whole time we are there.Does anyone have stories or tips on helping there baby settle into daycare? How long did it take for your chid to settle? TIAKerry

Were you there with him the whole time? I found that DS settled better if I just dropped and ran, as hard as that was for me. It was easier for him to be distracted and focus on all the great toys and other kids if I wasn't there. That obviously won't work for every child but it's what worked for us.

What do you do at home to calm him down when/if he gets like this? I would give the carers some strategies that work for you at home in advance to try and help.

Did you stay the whole time?? I found DS wasn't too happy when we did the orientation but once I left him there by himself, he settled reasonably quickly. There were still tears when I dropped him off but they only lasted a few minutes. He is now 20 months, grins when we pull up, runs straight into his room and starts playing with the kids already there.
