I am meant to be induced this afternoon at 40+4.

I had preeclampsia with my first baby and was induced at 36+5.

I really wanted to avoid being induced again.

Fast forward to this pregnancy, I had one high blood pressure reading this week and my kidney function test came back abnormal (creatine = 74 though I'm not sure what that means). BP has since come down but they want to induce me this afternoon due to the kidney test.

The issue is finding someone to care for my toddler tomorrow. There is an option that might work out but it would be better if we didn't need to use it.
I really feel like I would go into labour in a few days anyway - bub is really low, I've had some pretty strong contractions overnight the last few nights and a show yesterday.
I asked the doctor about delaying till Monday but she can't tell me the risks of leaving it till then and said that they would prefer to get me started sooner rather than later with the kidney test result. If I can't go in till Monday, they will arrange some monitoring over the weekend.

I don't know what to do. I feel physically ok. Emotionally, I feel a bit stressed about another induction and the timing of this one.

I'm not looking for advice, just venting I guess.

Why couldn't my body behave itself for a few more days!

All I can say is that for a young fit person, you have lost at least 50-70% of your kidney function before the blood test (creatinine) becomes even slightly abnormal.

With an abnormal creatinine, i would be very much taking on board your health care professionals advice, especially if your main objection is convenience!

Get a second opinion and ask about the kidney test and whether it would be safe to just let you go as you feel you will go into labour in the next couple of days. See if they can safely delay induction say for four days and if you haven't gone into labour then then get induced.

I would also have another kidney test. Are you drinking plenty of fluids?

I'm sorry you want to avoid induction but it sounds like the best thing in this case. You are overdue, you have a history of pre-eclampsia and as a PP said your kidney function is already quite badly reduced. Your blood pressure is up.

It sounds by far to be the best decision to induce today. You've had PE before so you don't need to be told how dangerous it can be. Don't risk it.

I am normally in the 'wait' camp when it comes to inductions that arent super overdue, but in this case given your history and test results I think it would be wise to listen to what the Drs are telling you.

I had PE in both pregnancies, please listen to your healthcare professionals.

Did you have any plans in place for care of your toddler in case went naturally in the past week or so?
I have no family in Australia and DP's dad has other family duties to take care of. We had about 6 close friends ( 3 couples) on standby for toddler care from about 37 weeks onwards. They also helped out afterwards too. Any chance of getting hold of someone now to help out? Do you have a DP/ DH?

I haven't been induced, but I think given your history and the kidney function test plus BP it would be wise to take their advice on this one. I hope all goes well...

What would you have done if you went into labour naturally at an inconvenient time?! Presumably you had plans in place?

I wouldnt risk it. Imagine if something happened to the baby because you decided it wasn't convenient. Abnormal kidney function is serious.

We did have plans in place for my mum to look after our little girl but a last minute crisis with her own mum had unfortunately left us in the lurch.
Luckily, my dear sister has delayed some travel plans (bless her!) and we'll be going in.
My nerves have kicked in!!
