I recently had a full head of foils done and will be continuing to do so every 6 weeks until my hair is light blonde - I'm a dark brunette naturally.
The first lot was done last week. My hairdresser (lucky to have a qualified hairdresser as a friend) warned me that it was going to feel very strange, very fine and dry and 'crunchy', in her words. I have found this to be true. It felt weird when I washed it at home, dry even when when IYKWIM. I bought some Shwarzkopf shampoo, conditioner and treatment goo (sorry, don't know the technical word) for 'extremely damaged hair'. Can anyone recommend a better one, or have you found this to work well? I have been combing carefully to stop breakage, but the frizzyness is bothering me. If I pick up an individual hair it's all kinked, not curly but wavey and crinkly. After a wash my hair it is hugely tangled and taes very gentle combing, which I do once it's dry. But then BOOOOF, it puffs out to, well, an afro. So, in short, what is your care routine for your bleached hair? Products etc? My friend said I can still straighten it but I'm afraid of frying it. I also want to take extra care of it since it's going to be copping another bleach-beating in four more weeks. It's still very dark and she estimates at least another 5-6 sessions before it will be the colour I'm after Any advice appreciated, thanks! |

redken extra soft shampoo/conditioner. i find shwarzkopf very drying. and argan or moroccan oil for the ends and mid lengths. comb through conditioner to get the knots out in the shower.
i only ever blow dry occasionally or just do my fringe. i would also recommend using a toner or blue shampoo once a week at least or your hair will go brassy and very yellow instead of a nice blonde colour. theres a good one in the home colour section of coles thats strong and lasts well or a silver toner. hope this helps x |

She told me not to use the purple shampoo because when she put an ash toner in my hair it went bright blue, so apparently the purple shampoo will turn my hair purple

I use whatever shampoo I feel like (I do use a purple one once a week though) and Paul Mitchell Detangler for conditioning. After washing, I towel dry and scrunch in some Sebastian Potion 9, then brush and leave to dry. I can definitely tell a difference if I don't put the treatment in, and it looks awful if I let it dry without brushing.
Get a Tangle Teazer for brushing, it makes a world of difference with the frizz. |

Matrix Exquisite Oil.
It is the best of all the hairdressers products I have used over the years. |

I'm limited to Coles and Hairhouse Warehouse around here but I'll make a list and see what I can find.
Do any of those oil treatments make your hair oily? I put some leave-in conditioner in it last week and it looked greasy and disgusting so I had to wash it out. It looked like I hadn't showered for a week |

Coconut oil doesn't but my hair is thick, dry and coarse so not prone to oiliness anyway. Just make sure you rinse it out well.
