I have quite a few rolls of wrapping paper and I'm sick of them falling out of the cupboard everytime I open it - I can only store them standing up due to not much room.

So how do you store your wrapping paper? I thought perhaps I could buy some kind of bag to store them in but not finding much online. I want to spend as little money as possible.

Any suggestions?

I bought two gift wrap organiser bags in the post Christmas sales two years ago. One has Christmas wrapping in it and is stored in the attic and the other has general/birthday wrapping paper etc. in it and is living under our bed at the moment. Like this:

Got mine from Spotlight. Not sure if they have them all year round, but you might find them somewhere.

I'm not great at explaining so I hope the following make sense...

  1. Take two elastic bands or hair ties for each roll of paper and secure the roll at each end. This prevents the paper unrolling and getting torn.
  2. Then take a piece of elastic, cut it in half and sew it into large two bands. Take the rolls of paper and band them together quite firmly at each end with the bands.
  3. Then take a gift bag ($2 shop, tallest one you can find) and put them in the bag, the bag should help them stay up right.

Or if you have the room and don't mind (can) put a couple of hooks in (assuming you have a shelf or the floor)

  1. Take two elastic bands or hair ties for each roll of paper and secure the roll at each end.
  2. Take two screw in hooks and screw them in about 15 cm apart about 1/3 of the way up from where the wrapping paper would sit.
  3. Then take another two hooks 1/3 of the way from the top of where the wrapping paper would sit.
  4. String firm elastic horizontally from both sets of hooks. Insert the wrapping paper rolls. Adjust the elastic as needed to keep the paper upright.

I use an old dress bag. Shoved them in there with the dress one day in the wardrobe when i needed to hide the wrapping paper (was evidence), dress is long gone, and now its its permanent storage spot.

Do you have any space under your bed. I have mine stored in an underbed storage container.

For rolls of wrapping paper, I just use an old bin like this, but without the lid. It just sits on the bottom of the linen closet. (in previous house with a small linen cupboard, it used to be in a corner in the laundry) For flat/folded wrapping paper, they are stored in an old pillowcase and slid down the side of the wrapping paper bin.
