Hello EB'ers

Dh and I are expecting no 2 later this year. We have a DD Brooke Emily. Our taste in names tends to be on the traditional side and we dont like super trendy or out there names. DH is super fussy and says no to almost everything I suggest.

The latest boys name that I suggested and he really likes is Kobe. I know it doesnt exactly fit with the traditional, not out there theme, but we both really like it.

Middle name will be Christopher.

So what would be the most correct, least creative way to spell this name? Kobe or Koby??

Tried to edit my post but It wouldn't let me.

I'll say this, it's not my style to be honest. It sounds quite unique and I do think he'll be forever correcting the 'k' from 't'

Kobe, to me, would be pronounced as in the Japanese city - i.e. Ko-bay (not quite, but close), and Koby would be pronouced Ko-bee. I guess it depends on what you're after. As for least creative, I suspect Koby, but that's a guess!

You've never heard of Kobe Bryant? Its not a unique name and why would he be correcting people from T to K, most people are smart enough to know that Kobe is a separate name to Toby.

I would go for the spelling of Kobe, I think it goes lovely with Brooke especially with another very traditional MN.

Rather inclined to giggle. Doesn't put things away.
Coby (as a nickname to Jacob). That would be my preference.

Jacob Christopher sounds better than Koby Christopher also.

I know there is a basketball player with that name, but have only ever seen it in writing (haven't heard how it is pronounced).

I would have pronounced Kobe as in rhyming with lobe.

I would have pronounced Koby as in rhyming with Toby.

If you are determined to keep the K I'd probably go for the spelling of Koby.

I look at Kobe and the first pronunciation I think of is like.. the drobe in wardrobe. Or Koby without the ee sound.
ETA - yeah, like lobe! (Thanks Sassy Dingo, I was trying hard to think of a rhyming word).

I've seen it spelt Cobey too, which I think I prefer.

There is always Corbin, which is more along the traditional lines.
Corbin Christopher has a nice ring to it.
