I need some help about triggering and timing intercourse as its doing my head in!
Today's scan showed a nice 18mm follicle and Dr wants me to trigger 8am Wednesday with Ovidril. So that means I will O 24-36 hours after and the egg lasts around 24 hours. Is that right? DH works away and won't be home until Thursday night. Will we be okay with timing? We also BD on Monday afternoon before he left. Every time I sit down and try to figure everything out my head just wants to explode! |

I may be wrong, but I think the male sperm die off quickly, but swim the fastest and the female sperm can live up to 3 days. Someone may come along with a more scientific answer, but I think this is what I was told by my very clever GP years ago.

So if I trigger tomorrow 8am we will be fine BDing on Thursday 10pm? We won't miss our chance will we?

You'll be fine, but you'll miss the pre-O sessions. If it were ME, I'd BD Thursday night, Friday morning, Friday night and Saturday morning - rather than every 24-48 hours starting a few days before O. Does that make sense? Although my DH's sperm is great, if it wasn't I'd maybe go 24 hours in that situation.
