We got a little male blenheim cav a month or so ago who is now 12 weeks and absolutely beautiful and spoiled rotten.
I was speaking to a lady I know who breeds tri coloured cavs and she told me she's expecting a litter any day now. I told her how cute I thought the tris are and she said Oh you should get one for a little friend for your blenheim as they love to have others as company.

I only work 9-3 one day a week so I'm pretty much home all the time and Marley is an inside dog so is with us and gets plenty of attention, but she said even so, they do like the company of another dog.
When I told dh what she said, he was all for it! but now I wonder if the 2 dogs will become more attached to each other and not be as dependant on us and want to be with s all the time.

Who here has two cavs and are they as affectionate as they would be just on their own?

I don't have two cavs, but have always had at least 2 dogs here.

My dogs love each other but are always happy to see me and the kids. They like both human and canine friends. I haven't noticed less dependance. I feed them, not the other dogs!

I say go for it, as long as the pup is healthy and temperament is good. But I'm an enabler.

My family has always had two dogs. It is lovely to watch them play together and so on. I don't have any at the moment but my parents have 2.

Have you considered a rescue instead, though?

I personally would never have one dog. Always two.
You feel so much better leaving them if they have a doggy companion.also watching them play and interact together is hilarious.

Make sure they are both desexed early and get prefferably boy girl combo. Next boy boy combo but girl girl combo can cause some issues so I would avoid that.

My two dogs are incredibly bonded together. But they still compete for their human effections. Especially from DH and I.

They tend to ignore the kids lol.

I have three female dogs. They get along just fine. There are no 'issues'. Never have been.

What do I think? I like dogs, so there was always going to be more than 1 dog in our household once we owned our home.

My only advice would be to make sure you train them both thoroughly - while Cavvies are sweethearts, they really do need some firm guidance. They can be stubborn/dumb, and training is important to overcome that. And the more dogs you have, the more you need them to be well-trained!

I have two Cavs, they sure love each other but they would take human attention over each other any day!

My Tri is seriously hyperactive, but my Blenheim is a lazy and super stubborn. Bit of a grumpy teenager.

They are a bit high maintenance in terms of ears and coat, but absolutely lovely natured dogs.

We have 2 cavs too, except ours are littermates so have always been quite bonded to each other. This is only an issue when they are separated though (eg, one goes to the vet while the other stays home).

Both of them love our attention though, and we normally have them somewhere near us - they are like shadows.

Lovely little personalities, though different as chalk and cheese.

We work through the day so bought the 2 at the same time so they had company through the day, all they do is sleep though.

I think ruby ones are the prettiest. I have no idea if their personalities vary by colour though.
