I have just realised now, 11.08am, that my DD2 was supposed to start back at school today.

My girls go to a K - 12 school and for some reason I had in my head that they started back tomorrow. So I just went and had a look at the school website and it turns out secondary starts tomorrow (DD1) but primary (DD2) was supposed to go back today

I'm at work now, so no option of me just running her up to school. Girls catch the bus to school together, and I am not sure that I would have wanted her to catch the bus without her big sister anyway. Not that there is a problem with her doing so but she is little and I just would not want her walking to and from the bus stop alone.

So I am sitting here at work, knowing my DD is missing the first day of this year. Feeling a little bad but also think it's kinda funny...........can't sweat the small stuff!!!

I did that last year with DD1. Realised when I saw other school kids walking home that I had forgotten/mistaken when the first day back was. I made point of checking several times that it is in fact tomorrow this year

Sounds exactly like the kind of thing I would do. Despite my growing obsession with writing things in diaries and calendars, I still manage to miss appointments and get times and dates wrong. There is just so much to organise and remember that my brain seems to be in a permanent state of confusion.

When DS started kinder I was an hour late picking him up. Well, 50 mins when you consider I was 10 minutes early eager to pick him up and the poor boy had been entertaining himself for 50 mins. The teachers had tried my mobile but I was out. It was so embarrassing!

Oooooops. Ive had to triple check when DS goes back after I saw the opposite around here today.

Ds's school starts back tomorrow, but driving past this morning from preschool drop off there were a couple of kids turning up in uniform (walking straight past the sign saying school is back on the 30th)

Then at the shops there was a girl in uniform for the school down the street which also goes back tomorrow.

I think there were a few parents around here today anxious to get their kids back to school

I'm a teacher and one year one of our teachers had to be phoned up at about 10am when he didn't show up on the first day. He thought we started back the next day, luckily the morning he missed was a pupil-free day!
