Apologies if this has been discussed many times before, but can anyone tell me why Australia tethers most boosters eg HiLiner, and all FF 5 point harness seats eg SnS Royale?

I need to buy new UK seats and am finding it really hard to put my kids in HiLiner-like seats (Britax Kids Plus and Maxi Cosi Rodi) and a 5 point harness one, without the seats being tethered by the usual Australian rear tether.

I'm not question which country has better standards - I will comply with UK requirements and get new seats, I just would like to know why the difference.

Boosters are really tethered so if they are unoccupied and not strapped in they do not become a projectile. Hence only boosters over 2kgs require a tether.

FF seats are tethered to help stop forward rotation of the seat.

Maxi Cosi Priorifix and Famiktfux base with pearl attachment have front foot prop which serve the same purpose.... To stop forward rotation. There is also a Brtiax Trifix which has top tether strap and the Duofix has the top tether strap as optional.

Generally speaking though, the Aussie seats I have used have mostly not had vehicle lock offs like the EU seats I have used and tend to have with the use if locking clip more of just a lap only belt arrangement. I have found the EU sets make more of the sash part of the belt then Aussie seats do.
