Confused about ovulation dates?!

Hi, HELP ME PLEASE! My period was 16th Jan & I average a 30 day cycle, I have read so many different pieces of information on when my ovulation dates are??? How many days after my 1st day of bleeding is approx ovulation?

The average for a 28 day cycle is ovulation on day 14. So yours would theoretically be cycle day 14-16.

So this cycle you will be ovulating on the 1st or 2nd of Feb

The most basic idea is that you ovulate 14 days before you get your period. So in your case D16ish with D1 being the first day of your period. It's just a rough time tho. You could get some OPK cheap of the net of you wanted to do some experimenting. I tested last month from D9 to D20 and never got a dark line that indicates your about to ovulate. Gave up at that point and now looks like I conceived D28. Bizarre cycles happen sometimes.

Thanks ladies ) How do the ovulation kits work? Is it just a matter of urinating on a stick like pg tests?

Yep same as a preg test except you do them afternoon or early evening rather than first thing in the morn.

I would definitely recommend opk. I assumed I was ovulating on day 14 (as my cycles are very average 27-28 days). But after starting opks I realised I ovulate on day 12 like clockwork. If I'd gone off average o, our bd-ing would have been mis-timed.

I spoke to a friend & she said have sex every 2nd day after I have finishes bleeding, I this good advice?

If you can maintain it, then sure. But from mmy experience scheduled sex gets very tedious once the months start ticking by and you don't have much chance of getting pregnant if you have sex outside of your four-ish day fertile period. So I would say it is a good idea to work out when you are ovulating - either with OPKs or tracking other signs like cervical mucus or temperatures.
