Hi
Do you put your child's recess & lunch in the same lunch bag? (Kindergarten) I am worried that my LO would leave her lunchbox in the playground or eat all her food at one sitting etc? Do you pack separately or will she just learn to look after her lunch box? Thanks |

We were told to put recess in a brown paper bag and lunch in a lunch box or insulated bag.

I put everything together in their insulated lunch box. My girls now just pull out their recess and leave their lunchbox in their bags.
If you do put everything together make sure they know there is recess and lunch is later. (+fruit break in the morning) Poor DD#3 didn't realise on the first day of school a few years ago and tried to eat everything at recess. Poor thing stuffed herself and then didn't have much left at lunchtime and went crying to DD#1 for food. After she did that I showed her her lunch box each morning and said ok you can eat this at fruit break, this at recess and then the rest at lunchtime. Our Infants kids have a big washing basket to put their lunchboxes in after they have eaten at lunchtime. Now that my twins are in primary they don't and have to look after it. DD#3 looks after her lunch box and drink bottle well while I usually find we are spending at least a few afternoons a week looking around the playground for DD#2's lunchbox or drink bottle or both. |
