Hi everyone
Just wondering as the title says if any of you lovely ladies have had the IGeneScreen test after recieving a high risk at the 12 week scan?? I had it done a week ago so am awaiting my results eagerly but just was hoping to hear from anyone else thats had this and what their experience was and how long you waited to get your results? For those of you who are unsure what Im talking about this is the new non-invasive screening test as an alternative to amnio and CVS or as in my case was the only option due to other issues. I paid $1350 to have it done as the blood is sent to Singapore for testing of the maternal and fetal DNA to test for trisomy 21,18 and 13. If you have experience with this I would love to hear from you |

I just had a look at their website. Did you know this?
QUOTE If my patient tests positive for iGeneScreenTM and wishes to terminate the pregnancy can I advise her to do so on the basis of the iGeneScreenTM test? Although all research to date suggests that this test is highly accurate, with a DR of fetal trisomy 21, 18 and 13 of >99% and a FPR <1%, this test is not diagnostic. A SCREEN-POSITIVE result even on a highly efficient screening test such as iGeneScreen™ requires confirmation by amniocentesis and karyotyping. So it's possible you may still need an amnio. Having said that, they've published their results in reputable journals - perhaps at some point, this may replace the NT. Hope you get your results soon. |

The test is 99.2% accurate and if it comes back with a positive result they provide the amnio at their cost. Amnio is about 99.9 % accurate so a little bit better but obviously has the risk of miscarriage that the IGeneScreen doesnt. From what Ive read and been told by the specialists I have spoken too in the past couple of weeks this test is the frontline for perinatal testing and will be offered as it is in the US along side options for amnio and CVS in the near future Thanks for the well wishes guys x |

Hi there!
I'm so relieved to read your post... I had my 12 week scan today and all was looking perfect (nuchal fold, heart, brain, size etc) but then there were some abnormalities with my blood test and showed a risk of approx 1:100 instead of 1:600 for Trisomy 13. Was such a shock, and I was not keen to do the Amnio due to the risk of miscarriage as well as bleeding (I'm on clexane to thin my blood). So I am also paying $1350 iGeneScreen and getting the blood test on Monday... let's hope they get the results back quickly! Please let me know how you go, I'll be sending you positive thoughts xxx |

Hi steffijade81, I hope you dont mind me posting on here, ive just started a new topic on "Pregnancy" asking for thoughts on downs syndrome testing. And one of the ladies kindly gave me this link and suggested i post on here.
I have just found out that im pg with #4, and considering my and Dh ages, and sadly my recent 3 recurrent m/c's, i would like further testing on this pregnancy, if all goes well this time. I read on the web that there is now a type of blood test, other to the Nt scan and combined blood test? That is very accurate and in also not an invasive type of test like the Amnio or Cvs is. I would really appreciate if you could let me know more information on where to get the testing, i live in W.a but i imagine that blood tests can be sent for testing? Also how expensive is it to get done? Best wishes to you on receiving the testing, i hope you get positive results and can then enjoy youre pregnancies This post has been edited by my3beautifulboys: 06/02/2013, 10:41 PM |

I got the referral at SJOG Medical Clinic in Murdoch (Murdoch Drive) and it cost me $1350. The bloods were done in Myaree. It takes two weeks to get the results back as they send to Singapore. It's called iGeneScreen and they have a great website. Hope this helps. |

Thankyou |
