Hi all
Just a few minutes of your time....
Can you please look at my crazy chart....
CM looked good for O around CD 16 but then awful long drawn out PMT with no sign of AF.
On CD 33 temp spiked causing Fertility Friend to signal a potential O. But the CM doesnt seem to indicate any additional fertility potential.
But surely it is too late in my cycle for all of this carry on???
I have read that the luteal phase is always pretty reliable and that it is the stages before then that vary in length based on hormonal stuff. (That's not very technical but you get my drift.) But can anyone offer thoughts on how late in a cycle it is possible to O and conceive?
Thanks in anticipation...

You need a luteal phase of at least 12 days for conception. One chart doesn't really give enough information tbh - do you have others?

Hi Corella
Thanks for your reply.
I am relatively new at charting and I am aware that I need to get some months under my belt so I have something to read and analyse.
I charted well in July and August 2012 but then Sep - Dec were write off's because of wedding and honeymoon.
So this is my first month seriously back into charting.
I just wondered, knowing its slim chance that my luteal phase would be long enough for anything to take, what is the latest in a cycle after late ovulation where pregnancy can been possible?
I am still learning so much about it all...

It looks like you have a short luteal phase. I'm no professional I only know from my own charts. I had a luteal phase of 8 days and took vitex to regulate the cycle. I got a bop two months after that. Good luck I also recommend sperm friendly lubricant if you are uncertain of egg white cm.

It doesn't really matter how late you O, it only matters how long your luteal phase is. I used to O between cycle day 30-70 regularly (really long irrwgular cycles as a symptom of PCOS) but as my lp was always about 14 days that was ok. It just made it hard to time bd as I could never be sure when I would O. If I were you I would try to bd every other day to try and cover your bases, and keep charting so you can monitor your cycles. Just remember, as long as your lp is about 10 days or more it shouldn't matter how late you O.

Thanks fellow posters
Yeah, I have erratic sleep. My husband has crohns disease (permanent bag) which means he is up and down all night going to the bathroom. He goes straight back to sleep but I struggle. Im a light sleeper anyway so a full night through is a rare thing. Do you think I should start to temp vaginally from whenever my new CD 1 turns out to be?
Also my hormones are all over the place apparently. I have carried out saliva testing (filling a test tube on day 7, 14, 21 25 and 28 of this very cycle). The tubes have been sent back to the lab and I should get a full hormone profile back for analysis in about ten days or so. In some ways it may be a good thing that my cycle is so messed up - of all cycles to analyse this one should give the lab people a run for their money.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my charts and comment. I know that, at the end of the day, all the wondering, questioning and analyzing wont change anything for the better. I just have to wait and focus on relaxing and being healthy.
But, after I finish my squinty-eyed logical sum up, its still making me nuts.

oowah thanks for that miss petal...
Because its early days in my charting history, its hard to say. The only visible time I O'd was in July and that cycle showed only a 6 day luteal phase.
I have some work to do rebalancing my hormones, obviously...

My sister has severe PCOS. I have never been tested but I know it can run in families.
Reading up on the specifics of PCOS:
My periods have always been irregular but even their irregularity is irregular (meaning sometimes I go through stages where I seem to be more regular than others). I am not very overweight (probably could do with shedding 4-5 kg's but nothing too drastic). But, the weight I do carry is all around my middle. I do battle with periodic breakouts, strange appearance of black wiry hair in odd places (nipple, chin) and often suffer from dandruff regardless of carefully looking after my scalp.
I dont believe in self diagnosis but it is something i should look into further or ask for medical advice on.
Thanks for commenting...
