I'm sick to death of our current machine 'chewing' our (mostly my cry1.gif ) clothes.

Currently we have a 4.5kg Simpson Ezyset, top loader, a leftover from my husbands bachelor days. He used to wash everything together with fabric softener... no washing powder/liquid blink.gif because that's what he remembers his mum using! Suffice to say he has been educated since, and much prefers towels that wick the water away biggrin.gif .

I would love something larger, we both work full-time and I'm so tired of spending all weekend trying to get loads through the machine. Our current machine makes it impossible to set and leave it overnight, or while I'm at work during the week.

Features I would prefer:
-larger
-front loader
-delay start
-doesn't constantly beep when finished
-water efficient
-range of short and long cycles

My mum has a LG that I quite like, but I don't need an integrated dryer. We have a separate dryer.
Please recommend me a machine... thanks in advance!

I quite like my lg front loader. It sings a little song when finished and then turns itself off.
They come without dryers.

Choice has just released a new washing machine test. I need a new one and my requirements are almost the same as yours. Based on that test we are looking at a Fischer and paykel 6 lg machine. I'm keen to hear other recommendations too though.

I have this: Bosch Front loader. So far it's been great. It takes an hour to do an Ezy wash (1.5 hours is pretty typical for a FL). You can set a timer to wash later, but the downside of that is that if you leave wet washing in a FL for very long the machine will get smelly. This size is ideal for our family of 5.
