DD is seven months old and generally has three meals a day on top of her milk feeds. Would it be ok if she 'skipped' a meal but had extra milk? We're going on a long car trip and don't know how to fit in a solids feed - we're BLWers and it takes a while!! Would that be ok? Or is it like asking me to go without food - in which case I'd be cranky! Thanks original.gif

I'd go by what your DD wants. We didn't do BLW, but we did occasionally skip a meal or delay it due to being out and about or driving. DS never fussed too much about it as long as he was getting enough solids through the day, and at seven months he was still getting most of his calories from milk.

The other option is whenever you stop for a break, could you give her milk then offer a small snack rather than a full meal?

DS is eight and a half months (blw'd too) and he eats when we do. So somedays he might sleep through lunch so he doesn't get lunch that day (just a snack a little later) - it doesn't phase him at all, no extra milk feeds, he's fine.
I imagine at 7 months your DD probably isn't eating a huge amount anyway? She'll be completely fine to miss a meal IMO original.gif

We did BLW, DD wasn't on 3 meals a day until 11 months and still gained weight.

I would think that at 7 months your little one would be more than fine missing one solid feed.

It's fine. I BLW my 7mo. When we are out though, I sometimes spoon feed my dd a little something or will pop little pieces of banana into her mouth. She gets very cranky if she misses out on food.

DS2 is 8 months tomorrow and we BLW too. He occasionally skips a meal. I wouldn't worry too much.

She should be fine.

If you did want her to have something that she can "eat" in her carseat, perhaps try a smoothie? At 7 months my little guy was never a huge fan of drinking from his sippy cup, but if your little one is okay with it, she might enjoy one. DS loves his smoothies now he's over his sippy cup aversion.

If worried, get one of those Rafferty's pouches to keep in the car or your bag, then if you pull over, offer that.
The apricot one was a hit with my baby, but not many of the others. She never did take to purees.

Good idea. Thinking back now, we did this too. I'd hold it up for DS to suck, so he was still in control of how much he had.
