Hi,

I'm after a go pro alternative (camera that can be mounted to helmet to film rides etc).
I saw the gopro at JB and it close to 400$, so did not want to spend that much, this gift would be for a 9yr old boy.

Anyone seen anything similar ?

Thanks,

I'm not sure of alternatives but the GoPro should last even with a 9yo punishing it. You might have seen the latest which would be the most expensive, you should be able to get an older model cheaper. HTH

My DS bought himself one with his Christmas money. It was the new $400+ version with helmet mounts for his motorbike helmet. I would be trying to talk him out of wanting one as once they have filmed a few dozen rides it all starts to look the same and the novelty wears off.

If it is the price you are worried about because you don't want to spend $400 on a 9yr old I understand. If you think it will break well we have had ours strapped to a big pole underwater with sharks swimming around it, and tag poles and gaf's swaying around. 3 30+ males haven't managed to destroy it yet so I would be feel comfortable that a 9 yr old would look after it.

There's also the Veho Muvi that's similar to the gopro. Jb Hifi also sell them, and they are a bit cheaper than gopro.
