DD is 3 on Sunday, we have a party planned for one the day with lots of family, friends and kids.

She will be getting presents from family and we have bought her a trampoline and this is where the problem lays.

The weather is going to be utterly miserable on Sunday, wet, windy and cooler than normal, and the trampoline was to be the only gift from us to her, I am now thinking that perhaps we should get her something else as well so she has something for on the day to play with.

We are going to assemble the trampoline on Saturday afternoon regardless of weather and hide it until Sunday morning but I just feel guilty that she won't be able to use it on her birthday.

So WDTY/WWYD?

If we get an additional something what would you suggest? We wouldn't want to spend a huge amount as the trampoline wasn't cheap.

I wouldn't get her anything else if she is likely to be getting presents from others at the party. TBH she is unlikely to know who gave her what at this age and as long as she has some little friends to play with and the party to keep her busy she will probably be fine! I guess you could always just get her a little thing from kmart, like a bubble machine or some colouring stuff if you wanted

I think she won't even notice. She will be more than fine with the party and subsequent gifts, and the trampoline will top it all off. I'm sure a few quick jumps can be had on the Sunday.

I was in this situation at Christmas. DH assembled the trampoline on Christmas Eve in the middle of a squall.

Obviously there were other presents underneath the tree. As soon as there was a break in the rain, I ushered my kids (aged 3 and 2) outside. They were thrilled, and the wet weather didn't deter them.

So yeah, I would make sure your DD has a present to unwrap. Doesn't have to be anything big for a three year old. Then let her play on the trampoline regardless of the weather!

I wouldn't... The $10 bubble machine from Kmart is so good. As is the $1 sticks ...she will be so caught up in that, the party and all the other gifts...have a special breakfast ....

Personally I wouldn't get her something else. Hopefully the weather will be clear enough that at some point on Sunday she can have a jump on the new trampoline. Once her party starts she'll be occupied elsewhere with family and playing with the other kids, not to mention that those people attending the party are likely to give her gifts so she will have plenty of new things to play with. At 3 she is not likely to be upset or even remember that she couldn't jump on the trampoline on the day - it will still be there when the weather clears and thats probably all thats important to her at this age.

I think she will have so many presents she won't notice they weren't from you.

When my DD turned 3 last November she had a party and got lots of presents. We had bought her one of those ride in cars and a dolls house (1 for b'day 1 for xmas) in the toy sales already, but as it turned out we were leaving for holidays on the day of her birthday so decided not to give them for her as they couldn't come with us. Not only did she not notice but she got an amazing christmas when she got them both!

I probably wouldn't either. I would play up attention on a special breakfast, dressing up for the party ect rather than always having to have 'gifts'

She doesn't need 'stuff' to have a happy birthday. You are giving her a party, that is a gift in itself. She is having her birthday celebrated with friends and family. She is 3. She'll have fun regardless of access to the big gift on the day or not. Kids don't need things, they need love which she clearly has in abundance, so just make a big fuss, give lots of cuddles and it'll be a great birthday regardless of the weather

I wouldn't..... I would make her a special breakfast and i don't think she would notice given she is likely to get presents from family/friends.
