its could be a blocked tear duct, go to your chemist or health nurse and they will show you how to massage the duct and how to wipes away from the eye with a soaked cotton ball of saline....(i put breastmilk on Nates and that helped...)

congrats on your baby bbighug.gif

If be heading down to the chemist first thing and getting some saline and sterile wipes - pretty sure they have me gauzey ones rather than soft ones - I'd check with them directly.

I'd also use today to fond out which chemists and GPs will be open over the long weekend in case you need further follow up. With a baby that young I don't think id use anything stronger than saline (sterile water) without a GP review.

Breastmilk. Failing that, cold chamomile tea.

This worked brilliantly for my little fellow.

I would use breastmilk, too. However, with such a young baby I would suggest you get it checked out by the GP.

My daughter had a gunky eye (just one not both) from birth. I was told by midwife to put milk in it at hospital and honestly it did nothing, I can't remember if she had drops or just saline in the end, but the Dr i saw didn't love the idea of me using BM. Dr focussed on keeping it clean and flushing the tear duct, and wiping under the eye like a massage to clear possible blockages.

I didn't breast feed my second little boy but we used saline drops and it took a good while to clear altogether. Take a trip to your chemist...

There's apparently new evidence that BM works but yes see GP because so little.

Saline drops that I mixed up at home worked for us, DS had that around the same age and it cleared after 3 days. If it doesn't clear after a few days go see your GP. I rang the MCHN line and they were really helpful
