I am in the process of selecting an oven and I am amazed at the price of some of them. (I've seen one for $11500!!!!)
If you have a pyrolitic oven, is it worth the extra money (I'm not talking the $11500 model), and if so, what brand/model do you have? |

I don't have one but soooooo wish I did. I hate cleaning the oven. I hate using nasty chemicals. My MIL has one and it works brilliantly.
The only advice I suggest though, is to buy a good pyrolitic oven. Those that aren't, don't get hot enough to satisfactorily burn off the gunk to ash. |

We have one, it is awesome. I hate cleaning the oven, but this is so much easier. You will still have to clean the racks and shelves (the silver parts), which can be a pain, but beats sticking your head in an oven full of chemicals!
We have an Electrolux Pyrolux EPEE63AS*42 |

I've just bought an Asko one and I'm looking forward to using it. Although I haven't yet used it, I obviously think they're worth the money.

Have a look at smeg ovens, you can get non pyrolitic ones that still have the "vapour clean" setting which is awesome.
You take the racks out and soak in sink and clean as you usually would, and fill the bottom of the oven section with water, put water and soap (or usual spray and wipe or whatever you would use) on the walls and door of the oven, then turn on to the vapour cleam setting. It causes the water you put in the bottom section to evaporate and essentially steams the oven, making everything on the walls go soft and really easy to wipe out. I LOVE it! Makes it so easy. |

We have a Combi steam oven and the steam cleaning setting, although useful, doesn't clean off the built up, burnt on gunk.

We have a Gaggeneau. While I love the oven & the pyrolytic function is well worth the extra money, I wouldn't recommend the brand as the after sale service is non existent to the point of having to go through consumer protection & then start legal proceedings for warranty issues to be sorted.

Wow... isn't Gaggeneau super $$$$? You'd think they'd have decent service then. I'm currently trying to decide between a pyrolytic oven and and induction cooktop (because I can't find a freestanding one that is both!). OP, my SIL has a Fisher and Paykal double oven that is Pyrolytic, and she loves hers. |
